First Flight Activities

The First Flight Centennial Celebration to be held at Kitty Hawk, N.C., will include:

*Dec. 12: "Igniting the Imagination" is the only nonticketed day. Highlights include the Raleigh BoyChoir, appearances by Wright family children, an uplink at 12:30 p.m. to the International Space Station, a 1 p.m. performance by pop star Michelle Branch and flight demonstrations.

*Dec. 13-14: "Remember the Past, Imagine the Future" will celebrate aviation's impact and will include appearances by historic aviators, skydiving, skywriting and wing-walking demonstrations. The Beach Boys will perform at 1 p.m. Dec. 13 and the Temptations will play at 1 p.m. Dec. 14.

*Dec. 15: "Protecting the Home of the Brave" will celebrate the impact of aviation on the military. Highlights include military aircraft dating to World War II, skydiving and fly-bys. Country music star Aaron Tippin will perform at 1 p.m.

*Dec. 16: "In History's Footsteps, Celebrating 100 Aviation Pioneers" will include films and exhibits about the honorees' contributions. Country music star Lee Greenwood will perform at 1 p.m.

*Dec. 17: "12 Seconds That Changed the World" will feature a re-creation of the Wright brothers' flight at 10:30 a.m. Actor John Travolta will be master of ceremonies. A second re-enactment will start at 2 p.m.
