Bridging Our Divide
TAMPA - Diversity will be the key to our city's success, many say. But in some ways, it is the disparities linked to diversity that seem to be holding us back.

Finding Our Place
TAMPA - These days, Tampa is thrumming with both frustration and hope. Lorraine Duffy Suarez and many others speak of the city as if it were a teenager - gangly, exuberant, still growing and full of potential, but its future uncertain.

Part 2

Our Beginnings
TAMPA - Tampa is a town that's evolving, maturing, growing. But going where? Becoming what? Our roots might give us some insight. A city's identity, how it works and the paths it follows as it moves into the future are nearly always products of the past - unless its people choose another course. Tampa is no different.

Part 4

Our Pursuit Of Prosperity
TAMPA - We are all searching for our place in the sun, but it may stay just beyond our reach unless our leaders find a way to energize the economy. That means breaking a long cycle of infighting among local business leaders and politicians over where Tampa needs to go and how best to resolve its shortcomings.

Part 5

Our Liquid Assets
TAMPA - Counting its bayfront and river, its lakes, ponds, canals and marshes, Hillsborough County has an estimated 500 miles of shoreline. In a place that often seems disjointed and at odds with itself, as previous stories in this series have shown, the water serves as one of our few defining characteristics, a siren that has intoxicated us and drawn us near.

Desegregating Krewe Was Only The First Step
The battle started with an unwelcome challenge to the all-white club that controlled the city's trademark celebration. Three years later, at the end of 1993, some of the most influential people in Tampa had endorsed an ``Agenda for Inclusion,'' agreeing to nearly a dozen goals aimed at opening more doors for blacks across Hillsborough County.

Say Yes To A Better Tampa
Tampa isn't at the bottom of anyone's best-cities list, or even close to it. There are reasons people keep moving here: the sun, the water, opportunity. But we have problems, too - crumbling neighborhoods, low-paying jobs, roads choked with cars.

Limited thinking isn't the way to preserve the finer qualities of our community and meet the changes that confront us.
